New Windows Install Issue
Permalink

I tried to do a new install using the 2.5.0_b123-x64 MSI package (manager and agent on the same server), but the manager never seems to start (the browser never connects to port 8080).  I seem to recall going through this before, but can't find my notes.  I've subsequently uninstalled and tried reinstalling, but that seemed to make things worse.  Is there any documentation addressing this kind of thing?

What messages appear in the boot.log?

If the boot.log contains any sensitive information, that's a good sign - it means that at least the initial start of the agent has occurred and it's detected your system correctly.

Are there any recent exceptions or errors in the boot.log?

Also, go to the Logscape/Scripts/ folder and run a networkCheck (.bat for windows, .sh for Linux)

That would normally tell you whether your agent has connection problems.

I don't see any errors, but I don't see anything starting up on port 8080 either.  It looks like the agent starts, but not the manager.

What role are you configuring on the server?

dev.Management

But finally.....

After another reinstall, this time not using the MSI and a reboot, I got the login screen and was able to login.

Odd. Suddenly the problem has returned and the manager doesn't seem to start and nothing is listening on port 8080.... my POC is now not looking so good.
