Through our library dependencies we are seeing the most important libs of 2014 have stopped supporting java6; this includes Lucene, ElasticSearch and Jersey.
Do you still need Java6 because we are forced to stop supporting it as we move to newer libraries.
We do have a few forwarders running Java 6 - at current rate they may upgrade next quarter. They still work so I can only assume you haven't completely deprecated 6 yet.
As long as it's clear on the website which version is still 6 compatible and when it's deprecated, it then becomes a user choice - modern logscape or backwards compatibility.
